the making of “Fearless”…

I follow many great fluid artists on YouTube. One of those is a fellow Canadian, Olga Soby. Olga has been doing a series she’s entitled Breaking Through the Limits, and challenged others to give it a try and post their results. So, I decided to try it myself.

9” x 12” cradled pre-primed wood panel. The edges are taped for a clean finished look.

Colours are: Golden fluid acrylics in Prussian blue, light phthalo blue, phthalo turquoise, iridescent pearl, titanium white all mixed with American Floetrol. I also used Chrome Molten Metals in gold, straight from the bottle. This is a picture of the painting when it is still wet. In later pictures and the little video, you will see how much darker the colours are when dry.

I decided to paint the edges, as there was some bleed through under the masking tape. I used a cheaper brand of tape, and should have used the better quality Frog Tape….note to self for next time. This picture was taken prior to another two coats of Prussian blue on the edges, so it is now a smooth even finish. I haven’t decided yet if I will paint the edges with some high gloss varnish as well
